June 10, 2016 Mr. James "Dick" Millwood, age 79, of 150 April Rd., Pacolet widower of Shirley Spencer Millwood, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 10, 2016 at his daughter's home. Mr. Millwood was born in Spartanburg, SC on September 20, 1936 a son of the late James V. Millwood and Margaret Fowler Millwood. He was a Veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict and was retired from the South Carolina National Guard after 22 years. Mr. Millwood was a retired textile worker and had retired as a member of the Pacolet Mills Rescue Squad. He was a member of First Baptist Church Pacolet, the VFW Club, Though Shoals Lodge #228 where he was past Master in 2002, and a lifetime member of the Hejaz Shriner. Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Byrd and husband Dennis; two sons, Larry E. Millwood and friend Kelly and Jimmy Millwood and wife Peggy; one sister, Joanne Gilliland all of Pacolet; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two grandsons. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Monday, June 13, 2016 at First Baptist Church Pacolet conducted by the Rev. Tommy Sparks and Rev. Jeff Dean. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Guyton, O.J. Parris, Steve Parker, Alvin Littlejohn, Michael Millwood, Jordan Spencer, and Parker Sellars. Visitation will be held 3:00 PM until 3:45 PM Monday afternoon prior to the services at the church. The family wishes to extend a special "Thank you" to the staff and nurses of Blue Ridge Hospice. Memorial may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 103 S. Boyce St., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home, 150 April Rd., Pacolet, SC 29372.
