Mr. James Nicholas “Nick” Maness, age 40, of Jonesville, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026.

Nick was born on March 10, 1986, in Spartanburg, a son of Debbie Sanders Maness and James “Jim” Maness, Jr. and wife Suzy, all of Jonesville. He was a 2004 graduate of Union High School and continued his education at Limestone College and the University of South Carolina Union. Nick was employed with TransContinental Packaging. An avid South Carolina Gamecock fan, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing, but some of his favorite times were spent watching his son’s soccer games and being involved in the things his son loved.

Surviving in addition to his parents are three sons, James Tanner Maness, Avery Sowers, and Allen Sherbert, III; his life partner, Jessica Sowers; two step-sisters, Casey Birchfield and husband Steven and Miranda Autry and husband Justin; a special cousin who was more like a sister, Niccole Davis (Terry Harris, Jr.); an aunt, Hope Davis (Keith); special in-laws, Luther and Kimberly Phillips; and several other aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. Nick was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Tommy and Brenda Robinson Dillard and Sidney H. “Danny” Sanders, Jr. and his paternal grandparents, James “Turtle” Maness, Sr. and Patricia Ann Boulware Maness.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at New Hope United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Angelia Price and Rev. Alex Hanvey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jeffry Scott Bell, Luther Phillips, Tony Neal, Josh Martin, Kevin Haydock, and Matthew Robinson.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the church.
