James Arledge Nichols, Jr.

February 2, 2018 Mr. James Arledge Nichols, Jr., age 58, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Woodward Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Hinson officiating. Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Woodward Baptist Church, 1570 Ashford Rd., Chester, SC. Mr. Nichols was born May 25, 1959, in Union, SC, and was a son of Dorothy Smith Nichols and the late James Arledge Nichols, Sr. He was a graduate of Union High School and Winthrop University. Mr. Nichols was an Eagle Scout, a private pilot and a Pokemon professor. He was Director of York County Dept. of Social Services. Mr. Nichols was a member of Woodward Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, Dorothy Nichols of Union, he is survived by his wife Sheila Brunet Nichols; one son, James Arledge "Tripp" Nichols, III; two sisters, Kakie White (Sam) of Union and Tweedie Mills (Mike) of Winnsboro; and one brother, Skee Nichols of Union.
