James Donald “Puddle Duck” Gregory

March 15, 2017 Mr. James Donald "Puddle Duck" Gregory, age 81, husband of Rachel Vaughan Gregory of 156 Brown's Creek Rd., Union, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at his home. Mr. Gregory was born July 30, 1935 in Union, SC a son of the late Claude Gregory and Mattie Palmer Gregory. He was a retired Supervisor from Cone Mill. Mr. Gregory was a member of Philippi Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and served on various other church committees. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Mark Gregory and wife Melissa of Union; two granddaughters, Emma Kate Gregory and Abby Grace Gregory, both of Union; two brothers-in-law, Blaine Welborne and Don Vaughan and wife Fran; four sisters-in-law, Sara Sprouse, Betty Harmon, Nancy Anderson and husband Les, and Dianne Roark and husband Russell. He was predeceased by three sisters, Josie Vaughan, Elizabeth Gregory, and Stella Morris; five brothers, Toby Gregory, Ray Gregory, Ned Gregory, Ted Gregory, and Shorty Gregory; two brothers-in-law, Gene Harmon and Bobby Sprouse; and one sister-in-law, Mary Welborne. Funeral services will be held, 11:00 AM Friday, March 17, 2017 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be, Dennis Gregory, Mike Gregory, Steve Morris, Kenny Morris, Johnny Gregory, Zachary Morris, Shane Petrie, and Kevin Fowler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Logan Vanderford, Ronnie Crocker, Glenn Ivey, Donald Hope Howell, Terry Bentley, Keith Vanderford, William Jolly, Bill All, Raymond Morris, and the Men's Bible Class #2 of Philippi Baptist Church. Visitation will be held 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to the services at the church. The family wishes to extend a special "Thank you" and ask that the Staff and Nurses of Medi Home Hospice, YaYa Mitchell, Misty Mullinax, KeyKey Epps, Jessica Paige, Julia Adams, Courtney Jennings, and Logan Vanderford sit in a group.
