James Summer, Sr.

July 16, 2015 Mr. James "Jim" Summer, Sr., age 78, husband of Laurice Kirby Summer of 4639 Jonesville Lockhart Hwy., passed away, Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Summer was born in Anson, NC, October 16, 1936, a son of the late Leland Sease Summer, Sr. and Lottie Barbee Summer. He was a longtime employee of Milliken and Co. and a member of Lockhart First Baptist Church. Mr. Summer was a veteran of the US Army and the SC National Guard. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, James B. Summer, Jr. of LaGrange, GA; a step-daughter, Sheila K. Robinson and husband Steve of Lockhart; a sister, Nancy Mack of Monroe, NC and a step-grandson, Ashley Robinson of London, England. Mr. Summer was predeceased by a sister, Betty Martin and a brother, Leland Summer, Jr. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Lockhart First Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Delos Blanton. The family will receive friends after the services at the church. Memorials may be made to the Lockhart First Baptist Church, Youth Group, P.O. Box 190, Lockhart, SC 29364. The family will be at the home, 4639 Jonesville Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC 29379.
