James F. Turner

Mr. James F. Turner, age 83 of 215 Belvue Dr., Union, widower of Laura Ann Laxton Turner passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at his home. Mr. Turner was born in Rutherfordton, NC on October 27, 1932 a son of the late Robert Earl Turner and Olar Kimbrell Turner. He was a graduate of Cross Keys High School and had retired from Independent Life Insurance Company. Mr. Turner was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Defense having served in the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of Hebron Baptist Church where he had previously served as chairman of the Deacons, a member of the choir, and was a part of the Hebron Brotherhood. Surviving are three sons, John Earl Turner of the home, Anthony Wayne Turner and wife Lauren of Union, and David Scott Turner of Union; four grandchildren, Brittney Turner, Kimberly Turner, Jennifer Turner, and Jada Turner; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leland Turner and wife Lavenia of Spartanburg and Furman Turner and wife Carol of Gaffney; two sisters, Esther Hutchins of Spartanburg and Ruth Hutchins of Greenville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Turner was predeceased by one son, James Michael Turner and two brothers. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday July 17, 2016 at Hebron Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Brian Childers and Rev. Jerry Ford. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be, CB Jolly, Ben Jolly, Harry Woods, Wayne Moss, Richard Henderson, Brian Henderson, and Wayne Bobo. Visitation will be held 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be made to, Hebron Baptist Church, 143 Hebron Church Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home, 215 Belvue Dr., Union, SC 29379.
