James "Hulio" Vinson

Mr. James V. “Jimmy” “Hulio” Vinson, age 77, of 616 Brown’s Creek Rd., Union, widower of Sandra Burris Vinson, passed away, Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the home of his son.

Mr. Vinson was born on May 15, 1948, in Union, the son of the late James Harrison Vinson and Ollie Mae Arthur Vinson. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Cone Mill. Mr. Vinson was a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Stephanie Duncan and husband Ray of Lockhart; a son, James Michael Vinson and fiancée Crystal of Union; a sister, Clara Ann Steen and husband Billy of Greenville; two sisters-in-law, Marlene Jennings and Lynn Ivey and husband Ben Ivey all of Union; a brother-in-law, Ted “Rooster” Burris; five grandchildren, Travis Ray Duncan, Megan Leigh Duncan, Sierra Vinson, A.J. Vinson, and Blake Johnson and wife Morgan; five great-grandchildren, Rylee Rider O’Dell, Wylan Navy Jake Gregory, Ayden and Carter Duncan, and Ayla Kate Johnson. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, James Adam Duncan; a brother, Tommy Vinson; two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Burris and David Burris.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Robert Scott. Burial will follow at Lockhart Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Rick Arthur, Robbie Gentry, Russell Sinclair, Mark Ivey, Scottie Burris, and Ben Ivey. The following are asked to form the honorary escort, Jimmy Belue, Kenny “Dusty” Garner, Jimmy Vaughan, Billy Erwin, William Erwin, Joe Erwin, Sweet Pea Haney, Billy Hoss, Travis Duncan, A.J. Vinson, and Blake Johnson.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
