December 16, 2018 Mr. James W. Black, age 74, husband of Karen W. Black of 201 Erwin Avenue, Union, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at his home. Mr. Black was born in Union, SC June 12, 1944, a son of the late Charles N. Black and Ellie Birch Black. He retired from Excelisor Mill following thirty-three years of service. Mr. Black was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and served in the Channel of Blessing Ministry. He was a Veteran of S.C. National Guards. Mr. Black was first married to the late Louise Black. Surviving are a step-daughter, Lori Hill and husband Dennis of Laurens; two step-sons: Bruce Wilson and wife Melissa and Jeff Wilson all of Union; a sister, Virginia Southerland of Whitmire; two brothers: Ricky Black and wife Kathy and Larry Black all of Union; five grandchildren: Josh Wilson and wife Josette of Enoree, Tyler Wilson of Laurens, DeWayne Glover and wife Ashton of Pauline, Cody Hill of Laurens and Jennifer Lankford of Union and seven great-grandchildren: Alena Pitts, J.D. "Scotter" Wilson, Emma Lancaster, Carson Hill, Connor Hill, Savannah Glover and River Glover. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Neil Keisler and Rev. Ralph Byars. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Josh Wilson, Cody Hill, DeWayne Glover, Zack Wood, Ronald Davis and Mike Bledsoe. Visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 PM at the church prior to the service. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to Dr. Boscia and the nurses and staff of Spartanburg Regional Hospice for their love and care of Mr. Black. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, % Channel of Blessing Ministry, 309 Barnado Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home, 201 Erwin Avenue, Union.
