alt="" class="auto-style54" height="33" src="Images/C_Button.png" width="165" /> Mrs. Jane Hutton Sims Bishop, 89, wife of Bernard Lamar Bishop of 507 West South Street (corner of Malone Ave.), Union, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Ellen Sagar Nursing Center. Mrs. Bishop was born in Union, December 21, 1930, the daughter of the late Thomas Robert and Lillian Lee Malone Sims and the granddaughter of the late Levi Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth Hutton Malone. She was a 1949 graduate of Union High School and a 1953 graduate of Winthrop College with a Bachelor of Music Degree. Mrs. Bishop was a third-generation member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity and a former member of the Union Music Club. She taught piano and voice in her home during the 1950's and early 1960's and was also very active in the PTA of her children's schools. She later worked with her husband in the family business, Bishop's TV Service. Surviving in addition to her husband of 64 years are two sons, Robert Lamar Bishop and wife Marla Jean Hester of Woodstock, GA, and Thomas Earl Bishop of the home and special friend Sally Elaine Summers of Union; one daughter, Emily Anne Bishop Reinhart of Chapin, SC; four grandchildren, Joshua Lamar Bishop and Laura Louise Bishop of Woodstock, GA, and Nicholas Graham Reinhart and Garrett Malone Reinhart of Chapin, SC; and lifelong best friend Ruth Ann Cogdell Tucker of Duncan, SC. Mrs. Bishop was predeceased by an aunt, Mabel Victoria Malone Godshall and a cousin, Ann Elizabeth Godshall Jones. Due to the recent health crisis, the family will gather for a private graveside service on Saturday afternoon, March 21, 2020 in the Sims family plot at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity conducted by the Rev. David Bauknight and the Rev. Sanders Read. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Joshua Lamar Bishop, Nicholas Graham Reinhart, Garrett Malone Reinhart, and James Wallace Cheek, II, James Randall Mabry, and Randy Brown. Friends are welcome to visit the funeral home to sign the register for Mrs. Bishop. In lieu of flowers, the family respectively requests that memorials be made to the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, P.O. Box 456 or Union Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 951, Union, SC 29379. The family will be at their respective homes.
