April 8, 2018 Mrs. Janie Scott Childers, age 81, wife of James Ralph Childers of 203 Putman Rd., Buffalo, SC passed away peacefully Saturday, April 7, 2018 at her home. Born August 24, 1936, she was the daughter of A.G (Bub) Scott and Marie Gregory Scott. She was a graduate of Union High School and Spartanburg School of Cosmetology. She traveled with her husband and sons, Scott and Glen, until her husband retired from the United States Air Force. She then worked as a paraprofessional with Sims Jr. High School for 25 years. Mrs. Childers was a faithful member of Putman Baptist Church where she loved the Lord. At Putman Baptist Church, she sang in the Adult Choir, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible school, and served on various other committees. She was presently a member of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. Surviving in addition to her loving husband of 61 years are two sons; Scott Childers and wife Nancy and Glen Childers and wife Teresa of Buffalo; Grandchildren, Brandy Palmer of Buffalo, Jessica Sherbert and husband Scott of Union, Charlie Childers and wife Brandy of Buffalo, Kala Robinson and husband Larry "Turtle" of Union, Samantha Childers and Tia Childers, both of Buffalo; great-grandchildren, Krista Terry and husband Cameron of Greer, Brooklyn Palmer of Buffalo, Jay, Mia, Ben and Sam Sherbert of Union, Dillan McAlister and Emma Grace Childers of Buffalo, and Dixie and Aria Robinson of Union; 1 great-great grandson, Carter Terry of Greer; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Scott Youngblood. Mrs. Childers was predeceased by a sister, Mary Nell Scott and a brother Curtis Scott. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, April 9, 2018 at Putman Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Tommy Mann and Rev. Donald Tillman. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The following are asked to serve as Active pallbearers, Deryl Gault, Harold Gregory, Tommy Petty, Matt Pittman, James Poole and Ricky Scott. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Heatherly, Curt and Beverly Gregory, members of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class, Stephanie Sherbert, Stephanie Blanton, Markitta Johnson and Gail Hyatt. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home, MSA Hospice, and all the caregivers for all the attention, devotion and love shown to her.
