Mr. Jacob C. "J.C." Benfield, age 80, husband of Juanita Silver Benfield, of 231 Mt. Vernon Rd., Union, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mr. Benfield was born March 23, 1940 in Morganton, NC, a son of the late Noah Jacob Benfield and Margaret Louise Whisenant Benfield.  He was a 1958 graduate of Oak Hill High School.  Mr. Benfield retired after many years as an Insurance Salesman and Agent.  He was an active member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church having been active in the Men's Ministry and the Wednesday Night Meal Program, he was a member of the Ola Jean Kelly Sunday School Class and had previously been a Deacon.  Mr. Benfield was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He was a "Pa-Paw" to everyone who knew him.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Julie Benfield Fowler of Union; a son, Jeff Benfield and wife Angie of Union; three grandsons, Blake Collier Fowler, Noah Jacob Benfield, and Benfield Christopher "Ben" Fowler; and one brother Kenneth Warren Benfield.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Chris Gulledge and Rev. Benny Green.  Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.  The family request those in attendance dress casually.

Active pallbearers will be Jeff Benfield, Blake Fowler, Jake Benfield, Ben Fowler, Warren Benfield, and Travis Carlisle.  The following are asked to sit in a group the Ola Jean Kelly Sunday School Class, John Martin, John Patterson, John Kingsmore, Greg Walker, Granville Freeman, and Richard Duncan.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the Church.
