J.C. Matthews, Jr.

April 5, 2017 Mr. J.C. "Jay" Matthews, Jr., age 65 of 225 Eaves Rd., Whitmire, passed away, Monday April 3, 2017 at his home. Mr. Matthews was born in Union, SC on May 12, 1951 a son of Betty Ruth McAbee Matthews and the late J.C. Matthews, Sr. He was a retired fork lift operator. Surviving in addition to his mother are one son, James Carroll Matthews and wife Angie of Union; two sisters, Betty Ruth Thiesen and husband William of Waxhaw, N.C. and Deborah Lynnette Funderburk of York; two brothers, Ernest Franklin Matthews and Michael Clifford Matthews both of the home; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren and he was loved by numerous nieces and nephews. "We love you Jay!" Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, April 7, 2017 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. The family is at the home, 225 Eaves Road, Whitmire, SC 29178.
