Jean (Anderson) Wood

Mrs. Jean Anderson Wood, age 80, of 151 Forest Meadow Ave., Buffalo, widow of Clabern T. Wood, Sr., went to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Ellen Sagar Nursing Center.

Mrs. Wood was born September 17, 1943, in Union, a daughter of the late Willie J. Anderson and Bessie Austin Anderson.  She was a graduate of Union High School.  Mrs. Wood retired from Wallace Thomson Hospital as Dietary Supervisor.  She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, the Sanctuary Class and was a former choir member.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan Lankford and husband Robin of Buffalo; two sons, Clabern T. Wood, Jr. and wife Vickie of Columbia and Elbert Wood of Buffalo; two sisters, Frances Ellen Anderson of Columbia and Linda Grace Fraley of Alexandria, VA; seven grandchildren, Joshua Wood, Amber Wood, Trevor Lankford, Brooke Bright and husband Jeff, Brett Austin, Brandon Austin, and Krysta Cartee; and six great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a daughter, Kimberly Michelle Wood; two brothers, Kenneth Ray Anderson and Charles Melton Anderson; and two sisters, Daisey Onetta Moody and Lillian Estelle Pettie.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Buffalo Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Doug Estes, Rev. Tim Anderson, and Mr. Trevor Lankford.  Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Jamie Smith, Doug Johnson, Ronnie Roberson, Steve Ramsey, Mark Brock, Josh Wood, and Kenny Proctor.  The Willing Workers Sunday School Class is asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home and Spartanburg Regional Hospice for their love and care of Mrs. Wood during her illness.
