Jennifer "Lynn" Childers

Jennifer Lynn Childers, age 79, wife of Jantzen E Childers of 3146 Lockhart Hwy, Union SC passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, at her home. Lynn was born June 12, 1946 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late JC and Reedy Moreland. Lynn was a graduate of Kershaw High School and Spartanburg Methodist College, where she met the love of her life, Jantzen and they were married for 57 years. Lynn worked for Eastern Airlines before moving to Union where she worked for Union County School District for 30 plus years. She retired as the executive secretary to the superintendent and the board. Surviving in addition to her husband are three children, Shannon Land(Jimmy McKeown), Jay Childers(Dawn), and Eric Childers(Catherine). Twelve grandchildren, Dustin Clayton-Pace, (Jason), Erika Chamberlain(Adam), Alex Childers, Andrew Clayton(Haley), Sydney Phillips (Zach), Emma Childers, Carson Childers and MacKenzie Land, four great grandchildren and one on the way. Her sister, our caretaker, nurse, second mom, Karen Martin. Two brother in laws, Arnold Childers, and Gonzalee Childers (Sylvia). One sister in law, Frances Moreland, and a number of nieces and nephews. Lynn was predeceased by a brother Jimmy Moreland, one brother in law Tony Martin, and one sister in law Marjorie Childers.

Mother loved her yorkie-poo Riley who she called her companion and best friend. She loved her family and friends and treated everyone like they were hers. As a school teacher she was everyone’s mom and made sure they gave their all. Mother taught Sunday School at Lockhart First Baptist for many years and helped with the youth ministry for most of our life. She was an incredibly hard worker and always went above and beyond her job duties. Mother took care of our home and homework and after-school activities.

Above all mother loved her Savior Jesus Christ and always put Him first in everything. That love was obvious in how she treated other people. She taught us to know Him and love Him as she did.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at New Life Baptist Church, 506 Meansville Road, Union, SC 29379, conducted by the Rev. Shannon Faulkner and Rev. Todd Davis. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Dustin Clayton, Jason Pace, Andrew Clayton, Adam Chamberlain, Alex Childers, Zack Phillips, and Carson Childers.

Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services.
