Jesse William "JW" Crisp, 91, of 1608 Main Street, Buffalo, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House after a hard-fought battle with complications from surgery.
JW was born August 21, 1932, in the Meadow Woods Community of Buffalo, the son of the late Jesse and Bessie Kate Smith Crisp. He was the widower of Launa Johnson Crisp who passed away in 1985. Jackie Fowler became his special companion after the death of Launa.
JW worked at Conso Products as the supervisor of the maintenance department until they closed their doors. He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and served in the United States Army.
JW was affectionally known by all who loved him as Dub or Papa Dub. He could always be found with a set of tools in his front pocket and a flashlight in his back pocket ready to lend a helping hand to fix anything that was broken and help anyone in need. He loved to share stories of his days of playing baseball in the Buffalo Community, trips to Ocean Lakes, and bluegrass music.
He loved his family and is survived by one daughter Sherry Crisp Kendrick and husband Scott of Buffalo and three grandchildren, Brooke Lee and husband Neal, Christopher Kendrick and Ashley Brewington, Kelli West, and husband Dillon, and five great-grandchildren, William and Anna Grace Lee, Garrett Kendrick, John Hunter Martin, and Hadley West. He had two special nieces, Anita Haney Branum and husband Jim and Kim Moore and husband Billy Ray, and three special nephews, Mark Haney and wife JoAnne, Joey Haney and wife Pat, and Tim Harrison and wife Hedy. He was predeceased by a son, Steven Crisp, brothers, Glenn and Harold Wayne Crisp, and a sister and brother-in-law Juanita and Joe Haney.
The family would like to express special thanks to the nurses and staff at Tower 4 and the Hospice House of Spartanburg Regional Hospital.
