Jesse Pinson Walker

Mr. Jesse Pinson Walker, age 87, of 112 Wingfield Drive, Union, widower of Phyllis Vick Walker, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Mr. Walker was born in Union, SC on February 24, 1927 a son of the late Charlie Stough And Jessie Pinson Walker. He was a 1951 graduate of Wofford College and was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp Engineers having served during World War II. Mr. Walker was retired as Plant Manager from Milliken and Co. - Monarch Plant. He had also served as Plant Manager of multiple Milliken Plants in South Carolina and Georgia. Mr. Walker was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Walker Brown and husband Benjy of Union; a grandson, Benjamin Walker Brown of Union; three sisters, Edith Blalock and husband Clyde of Glenn Springs, SC, Marion McGaha of Charlotte, NC, and Louise Foster of Spartanburg; one brother Charles Walker of Elizabethtown, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge, Mr. Walkers special friend and care-giver, Lisa Gibson, of Comfort Keepers. He was predeceased by two brothers, Calvin Walker and Bruce Walker Price and two sisters, Ruth Layton and Dorothy Hamilton. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Forest Lawn Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Scott Cobb. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside. The following are asked to form the honorary escort, Julian Ivey, Hubert Sanders, Doug Lawing, Aubry Adams, Gene Logan, George Ashmore, and Bill Hickson. Memorials may be made to the Union County Humane Society, 218 N. Pinckney St., Union, SC 29379.
