Mrs. Jimmie Bates Yount, age 74, wife of Cecil Yount, of 1127 Jonesville Lockhart Hwy., Union, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at home.
Mrs. Yount was born November 27, 1947, in Barnwell, SC, a daughter of the late Doc Bates and Alma Weaver Bates. She was a graduate of Barnwell High School and was a certified Professional Secretary. Mrs. Yount retired as Secretary of First Baptist Church Spartanburg and had previously worked as a Secretary at Milliken & Co. She was a member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg. Mrs. Yount was a volunteer at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 45 years are two step-daughters, Sheila McBrayer of Spartanburg and Kelly Bagsby and husband Michael of Canton, NC; a sister, Sally Bates Corley of Johnston, SC; her fur-babies, Maggie, Lacy, Bella, Harley, and Charley; six grandchildren, Jessica Powell Dunlap and husband Drake of Greenwood, Taylor Culver of Saluda, Matthew Kendrick and wife Casey of Buffalo, Dalton Williams and wife MiKayla of Belton, Cory Williams of Boiling Springs, and Brandon Williams of Spartanburg; four great-grandchildren, Grant Kendrick, Emma Cate Kendrick, Mason, and Finnic Williams; three nieces, Diane Corley Riddle and husband Gene of Asheville, Lee Corley Faust and husband Mark of Edgefield, Cynthia Yount Brown and husband David of Columbia; two nephews, Christopher and Michael Russell of Jonesville; two sisters-in-law, Donna Horne and husband Jerry of Jonesville and Cyndy Yount of Lexington; and several great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Teresa Yount Culver, a son-in-law, Grady McBrayer; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Yount.
Due to COVID concerns private services will be held for the family only.
The family is at their respective homes.
