Jimmy Lee Parkins, Sr.

Mr. Jimmy Lee Parkins, Sr., age 80, husband of Brenda Kirby Parkins of 665 Gaffney Hwy., Jonesville, passed away Monday August 28, 2023 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mr. Parkins was born in Chester Co., May 1, 1943, a son of the late Claude and Nellie Clack Parkins. He was retired from Milliken and Co., Research Center in Spartanburg and was a member of Gilead Baptist Church. Mr. Parkins was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 51 years, Brenda, are a daughter, Holly Parkins of Lockhart; a brother, Roy Parkins and wife Brenda of Lockhart; and a daughter-in-law, Dawn Gault of Jonesville. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Josh Gault and wife Blair, Wesley Gault and wife Kayla, Adam Parkins and wife Leah, Jonah Parkins, Jessie Parkins and Spencer Burnett; six great-grandchildren, Aiden Gault, Addaleigh Gault, Beckett Parkins, Charlie Gault, Case Gault and Lila Gault and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Parkins was predeceased by a daughter, Crystal Parkins, two sons, Jimmy Lee Parkins, Jr., and Jeff Gault, six brothers and three sisters.

The family would like to say a special Thank You to the staff and nurses of Ellen Sagar Nursing Center and to Spartanburg Regional Hospice especially Toni Gregory, for the care given to Mr. Parkins during his illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Gilead Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Eddie Saxon and Rev. Tony Pearson. Burial will follow at Jonesville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church prior to services.

Active pallbearers will be Dean Adams, Dennis Kirby, Matt Parkins, Phil Kirby, Jared Parkins, Jordan Parkins and Marty Parkins.
