Joe Henry Burns

Mr. Joe Henry Burns, age 83 husband of Betty Roberts Burns, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home. Mr. Burns was born July 24, 1934 in Hickory Grove, SC a son of the late Rufus Marion Burns and Lucille Burns. He was retired from Milliken & Co-Lockhart Plant. Mr. Burns was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church. He had formerly served as a fireman with Lockhart Fire Department and had served on the board. Mr. Burns enjoyed fishing and being on the lake. Surviving in addition to his wife of 57 years are one son, Randall Burns and wife Deanna; two granddaughters, Tracy Cudd Vanderford and Ollie Virginia Burns; one great-granddaughter, Sydnie Vanderford; two sisters, Dolly Broome and Joyce Hardin; one brother, Glenn Burns; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Nickey Cudd. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Sam Baine and Rev. Merritt Wentz. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday prior to the services at the church. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the nurses, staff and CNA's of unit 2 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home for their love and care of Mr. Burns. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church, 126 Askew Circle, Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home of his son Randall and Deanna Burns.
