Joe W. Humphries, Jr.

Mr. Joe William Humphries, Jr., age 66 of Thornridge Rd., Union, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026.

Mr. Humphries was born in Union, June 21, 1959, a son of the late Joe William Humphries, Sr. and Dorothy Wylie Humphries. He was a 1979 graduate of Union High School and had retired after 40 plus years with the Union Co. School System. Mr. Humphries loved the outdoors, especially his chickens and bees. He was a successful beekeeper and sold his honey locally around Union. He loved meeting people and talking to everyone. He had worked the exhibits at the fair for many years and also enjoyed going to auctions.

Surviving are a brother, Frank Humphries and wife Candee of Spartanburg; a niece, Anna Grace Humphries and a nephew, Zachary Humphries and fiancée, Emily Fleming. He is also survived by many cousins and their families.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Frederick Memorial Gardens in Gaffney, conducted by Rev. Scott Cobb.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice or to your local 4-H Club.

The family will be at the home of Frank’s mother-in-law, Rita Hines, 842 Bob Adams Rd., Union.
