Joe Edward Newton, Sr.

Mr. Joe Edward "Buddy" Newton, Sr, age 77, husband of Joyce Wright Newton, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 27, 2015 at his home. Mr. Newton was born in Buffalo, SC October 11, 1937, a son of the late James A. Newton and Loree Phillips Newton. He retired from Cone Mill-Carlisle Finishing Plant and also retired from the Union County Recycling Center. Mr. Newton was a member of Putman Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Beth Henderson and husband Kevin; a son, Joey Newton and wife Sharon; three grandchildren: Emma Brooke Jarrett, Cody Newton and Erin Henderson, Trey Newton and wife Amanda; two great-grandchildren: Delaney Newton and Mackenzie Flowers; two sisters: Frances Boulware and husband Thomas and Margie Garner and a brother, Elzie Newton. Mr. Newton was predeceased by a daughter, Teresa Ann Newton, a sister, Brenda Scott and a brother, Elizah "Red" Newton. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Putman Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Rick Henderson. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Cory West, Brent Phillips, Chris Boulware, Kenneth Newton, Don Nivens, Eddie Wayne Newton and Jason Ivey. The following are asked to serve as Honorary Pallbearers: Danny Rodgers, Ted and Debbie Schuler, Billy Keisler, Freddie Renwick, Johnny Alexander, David Taylor, Ken Harvey and Marshall and Gail Adams. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Putman Baptist Church, 3692 Buffalo West Springs Hwy, Buffalo, SC 29321. The family is at the home, 212 Gin Circle, Buffalo.
