John R. Betenbaugh

Mr. John Roper Betenbaugh, age 72, of 621 Sardis Road, Union, passed away, Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mr. Betenbaugh was born in York, December 20, 1951, a son of the late Herman Betenbaugh and Lillie Linderman Betenbaugh.  He owned and operated John R. Betenbaugh Plumbing.  He was a member of Sardis Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men's Club and helped with the Salkehatchie Ministry.

Surviving is a son, John Michael Betenbaugh of the home; two daughters, Amyaie Betenbaugh of Spartanburg and Makayia Betenbaugh of Gaffney; two brothers, Bill Betenbaugh and wife Myrtle of Rutherfordton, NC and Don Betenbaugh and wife Margaret of Union; a sister, Pat Jennings and husband Bryant of Newberry; four grandchildren, Ciarra, Skyler, Cory, and Cile Betenbaugh; and two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Betenbaugh and Bobby Junior Betenbaugh.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Misty Michelle Betenbaugh; a sister, Susan Betenbaugh; three brothers, Jimmy Sanders Betenbaugh, Mike Betenbaugh, and David Betenbaugh.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Sardis Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Jeff Farmer and Rev. Ben Kochenower.

The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, Larry and Cynthia Yarborough, Terry and Margie Humphries, Genelle Brock, Steve Greer and Perry Haney.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the church.
