December 31, 2018 Mr. John M. Jenkins, age 74, husband of Linda Calhoun Jenkins of 113 Rosewood Terrace, Union, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018. Mr. Jenkins was born in Whitmire, SC July 31, 1944 a son of the late William M. Jenkins and Annis Williamson Jenkins. He was a graduate of Whitmire High School where he was King of Hearts for 1962. Mr. Jenkins was also a graduate Greenville Technical College and retired from Cone Mill Carlisle Finishing Plant. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Union Masonic Lodge number 75 AFM. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Charlie Jenkins and wife Melanie, and their son, Creighton Jenkins and Chad Jenkins and wife Melanie all of Newberry; a sister, Pauline J. Thrift and husband Raymond of Whitmire, two brothers, Glenn Jenkins of Union and Horace Jenkins of Ninety Six; a brother-in-law, Tommy Calhoun and wife Wanda of Union; a sister-in-law, Shirley Messer of Ashville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Robbie Stolger. A private burial will be held at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Gem McCutcheon, Michael Gough, Kevin Addis, Will Hickson, Chip Calhoun and Jeff Berry. Visitation will be held 10:30 AM-12:00 noon Tuesday in the chapel prior to service. Memorials may be made to Friends of the Union, SC Animal Shelter, 3839 Cross Keys Hwy, Union, SC 29379 or to the Alzehimers Association, SC Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd, Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621. The family is at the home, 113 Rosewood Terrace, Union, SC 29379.
