John Wayne Lawson

February 11, 2017 Mr. John Wayne Lawson, age 65, husband of Lennis Willard Lawson of 107 Willard Rd., Union, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Mr. Lawson was born in Union, SC December 17, 1951, a son of William Leonidas Lawson and Bertie Mae Nance Lawson. He was a graduate of Union High School and Spartanburg Technical College. Mr. Lawson retired from Torrington- Timken Plant and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons: John Michael Lawson of the home, Christopher Mark Lawson and wife Pam of Lexington and Eric Scott Lawson and wife Crystal of Union; two sisters: Doris Garner and husband Kent of Union and Ann Ketterman of Union; a sister-in-law, Mary Lawson of Buffalo and four grandchildren: Brandon Lawson, Erica Lawson both of Union, Hazel Lawson of Lexington and Andrew Moss. Mr. Lawson was predeceased by two brothers, Tom Lawson and Jim Lawson and a brother-in-law, Stan Ketterman. A Memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Salem Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jim Wiseman. Visitation will be held in the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, 330 Santuc Drive, Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home of his son, Eric Lawson, 312 Glendale Rd., Union.
