John L. Lipsey, Sr.

December 17, 2018 Mr. John Lee Lipsey, Sr., age 60, husband of Trudy Price Lipsey of 107 Neal Shoals Rd., Union, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at his home. Mr. Lipsey was born in Union, May 17, 1958 a son of the late Herbert "Tye" and Dorothy "Dot" Lanier Lipsey Tiner. He was a self-employed auto mechanic and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Lipsey enjoyed fishing, his family, and especially his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Marie Lipsey of Union; two sons, John L. Lipsey, Jr. and wife Karen of Jonesville and Jethro Lipsey of Union; a daughter-in-law, Dollie Nelson of Buffalo; two sisters, Debra Atkins of Pauline and Rose "Sissy" Lipsey of Spartanburg; one brother, Jerry Lipsey and girlfriend, Jane of Pauline; a sister-in-law: Loretta Price of Woodruff; seven grandchildren, Kala, Tyelar, Jadalynn, Ava, Jethro Jr., Jebediah, and Roscoe-Daniel; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Lipsey is also survived by close friends, Steve "Boo" Berry, Wayne Coker, Johnathan Sims, Sammy Wilson, Randy Gregory and several other "fake" friends. He was predeceased by a son, Roscoe Lipsey and three brothers, Michael, Chucky, and Herbert, Jr. A celebration of life gathering will begin at 5:00 PM Tuesday evening, December 18, 2018, at the home.
