John Lewis Marks

Mr. John Lewis Marks, age 88, husband of Janet O'Brien Marks, of 358 Fairwood Blvd., Union, passed away, Saturday, November 9, 2024 at his home.

Mr. Marks was born December 4, 1935 in Hartford, CT, a son of the late John Louis Marks and Mary Duncanson Marks.  He was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield, CT and Bullard Havens College.  Mr. Marks was retired from Torrington & Co.—Tyger River Plant and had previously worked for the Forest City, NC Plant before moving to Union.  He was a Veteran of the United States Navy.  Mr.  Marks was a member of the Augsburg Lutheran Church and a member of American Legion Post 22.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years are two sons, John Michael Marks of the Home and Paul Douglas Marks and wife Roanna of Gaffney; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, William Marks of Sharon, CT and Dr. Thomas Marks and wife Deborah of Chester Springs, PA.   He was predeceased by a sister, Agnes Mary Carp.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Augsburg Lutheran Church conducted by Pastor Michael Shackleford (Chaplain, Spartanburg Regional Hospice). Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday at the church prior to the services.
