John Carroll Morris, Sr.

July 7, 2016 Mr. John Carroll Morris, Sr, age 86 of Jonesville, widower of Geraldine Motts Morris, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Rosecrest in Inman. Mr. Morris was born in South Carolina August 30, 1929, a son of the late Pierce Morris and Myrtle Reeves Morris. He was a graduate of Jonesville High School and was self-employed. Mr. Morris was a faithful member of Gilead Baptist Church where he served in various capacities. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Surviving are a daughter, Harriet M. Porter (Steve) of Boiling Springs; three sons: John Carroll Morris, Jr of Jonesville, Roger Eugene Morris (Judy) of Mooresboro, NC and Terry L. Morris (Carole) of Pacolet; a brother, Dean Morris of Jonesville; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Morris was predeceased by a grandchild, Phillip Porter, a sister, Rachel Bobo, four brothers, Charles, Frank, Don and Grayson Morris. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Friday, July 8, 2016 at Gilead Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Eddie Saxon and Rev. Bill Adams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 2:00-4:00 PM Friday in the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Gilead Baptist Church, P.O. Box 38, Jonesville, SC 29353. The family will be at their respective homes.
