December 14, 2016 Mr. John Patrick "Pat" Slaughter, age 70 of 109A Cogdill Plaza, Union, widower of Sara Ellen Solomon Slaughter, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at his home. Mr. Slaughter was born in Bethesda, Maryland, March 15, 1946, a son of the late George and Elizabeth Dunn Slaughter. He was a graduate of Florida State University receiving a degree in Criminology and was retired from the United States Customs Office had formerly served in Law Enforcement in Garden City, GA. Mr. Slaughter was a sergeant in the US Army having served in the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the NRA. Mr. Slaughter was a member of Putman Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Miriam Slaughter of Columbia; two sons, Ethan D. Slaughter and Aaron Slaughter and wife Katy all of Union; a sister, Kathy Daugherty and husband Ronnie of Buffalo; four grandchildren; Domonic Slaughter and Alayah Slaughter of Charleston and Brett Owens and Sara Kathryn Slaughter of Union; a niece, Patrice Slaughter and husband Dave of Melbourne, FL; a nephew, Zach Daughtery and wife Misty of Monterey, CA and two great-nephews. Mr. Slaughter was predeceased by a sister, Jeanie Ann Slaughter. Memorial services with Military Honors will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Putman Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tommy Mann and Rev. Donald Tillman. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 Sunday at the church prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Dr., Triangle, VA 22172 or to Putman Baptist Church, 3692 Buffalo-West Springs Hwy., Buffalo, SC 29321. The family will be at the home of his sister, Kathy and Ronnie Daughtery, 1081 Meadow Woods Rd., Buffalo.
