John W. Stevenson, Jr.

Mr. John W. Stevenson, Jr., age 73, formerly of Union, widower of Rebecca Hyatt Stevenson, passed away, Thursday, May 14, 2020 at his home.

Mr. Stevenson was born November 16, 1946 in Chester, a son of the late John W. Stevenson, Sr. and Mary Alice Traylor Stevenson.  He was a 1964 graduate of Union High School and a 1968 graduate of Newberry College.  Mr. Stevenson was retired from the Textile Industry, having worked at Milliken & Co., Springs Co., and Springfield Co.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Union.  Mr. Stevenson was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed watching the South Carolina Gamecocks, the Atlanta Braves, and his grandchildren play ball.

Surviving are two sons, John W. "Trey" Stevenson, III and Christine of Gilbert and Thomas Andrew Stevenson and wife Gina of Lexington; three grandchildren, Braydon Stevenson, Rebecca Stevenson, and Mary Hyatt Stevenson; and two sisters, Judy Mahan and Jackie Chalk and husband Rodney all of Greer.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Tommy Kelly.

Active pallbearers will be Stacey Jones, Charlie Kelly, Wilbur Smith, John Robbins, Jerry Williams, and Brian Davis.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Campbell and Billy Sanders.

The family is at their respective homes.
