John H West, Jr.

Mr. John H. West, Jr., age 82, of 445 Bishop Rd., Union, widower of Helen Smith West, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Mary Black Hospital.

Mr. West was born January 9, 1943 in Woodruff, a son of the late Henry West and Virginia Morgan West.  He was a graduate of Woodruff High School, Wofford College and received his Master's Degree from Indiana University.  Mr. West retired from Oconee County Schools as a teacher.  He was a member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Caroline W. Burgess and husband Lane of West Union; a son, Christ West of Union; six grandchildren, Bradley Burgess, Michael Burgess, Madison Burgess, Ivey West, Carley West, and Tyler Sanders; and one great-grandson, Bruce Burgess.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
