Johnny Ray Ammons

November 11, 2016 Mr. Johnny Ray Ammons, age 78, husband of Sharon "Pat" Wilbanks Ammons of 125 Union St., Whitmire, passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 at his home. Mr. Ammons was born in Whitmire, SC on September 1, 1938 a son of the late Samuel and Alice G. Ammons. He was a graduate of Whitmire High School and retired after 48 years from J.P. Stevens. Mr. Ammons was a lifelong member of Pineridge Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Tammy Lynn Claytor and husband William of Whitmire; one son, Johnathan Patrick Ammons of Whitmire; three grandsons, Michael Claytor and fiancée Jessica Pressley, Danny Claytor and fiancée Christy Jotte, J.P. Ammons, Jr. and his mother Teresa Kaye Ammons; and his beloved pet dog Pencil. He was predeceased by two sisters, Katie Stone and Nellie Kitchens and two brothers, Jack Ammons and Harvey Ammons. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Pine Ridge Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Kenny Weaver and Rev. Terry Poore. Burial will follow in Whitmire Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Moss, Michael Thomas, Bradley Boyter, Dickert Lominack, Jeremih Sinclair, and Kyle Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. John Roche, Jr., Jimmy Dunway, Kenny Lominack, Dr. Emily Livingston, Julia H. Adams and the staff of Medi Home Hospice. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday evening at Pine Ridge Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Johnny Ammons Fund, PO Box 293, Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home, 125 Union St., Whitmire, SC 29178.
