Joseph H. Greene

Mr. Joseph Harrison "Joe" Greene, age 64 of Boiling Springs, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Mr. Greene was born in Spartanburg, December 9, 1951 a son of the late Ralph L. and Catherine Harrison Greene. He was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and received his Bachelor Degree from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Greene was employed as an engineer with the Cherokee Springs Fire Dept. where he also volunteered since 1974 and was a member of the S.C. Fire Fighter's Association. He was formerly employed with American Fast Print. Mr. Greene grew up in the Presbyterian Church but more recently followed his son's ministry in the Methodist faith. Surviving are a son, Rev. J. Christopher Greene of Columbia; a dear friend, Doris Y. Greene of Spartanburg; two nieces, Meredith Curtis and Melanie Greene Edwards and husband Michael all of Spartanburg; a nephew, Matthew C. Greene and wife Kelly of Clemson and numerous cousins. Mr. Greene was predeceased by a brother, Michael Greene. A memorial service with Full Firefighter's Honors will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, March 6, 2016 at New Beginnings United Methodist Church in Boiling Springs conducted by Rev. Terry Fleming and Rev. J. Christopher Greene. Visitation will be held from Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Beginnings United Methodist Church, 210 Rainbow Lake Rd., Boiling Springs, SC 29316 or to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 1000 Spring Hill Rd., Gilbert, SC 29054 or to a church of one's choice.
