Joseph Matthew Sawyer

Joseph Matthew Sawyer, age 27, of 220 Walnut St., Union, passed away suddenly at his home, Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

Joseph was born in Greenville, August 14, 1994, a son of Donna Harris Ford of the home and Don Sawyer and his wife Tonya of Buffalo. He was a 2012 graduate of Union High School where he was a Junior Scholar and a star member of the tennis team. He attended Spartanburg Methodist College and was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church. Joseph was a former Boy Scouts member of Troop #42. He enjoyed reading, the beach, Japanese culture, and computer games.

Surviving in addition to his mother and father are a sister, Anna Rose Sawyer of Clemson and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his step-father, Roger Ford, his maternal grandparents, Joe and Sarah Ochiltree Harris and his paternal grandparents, Henry and Brenda Sawyer.

A service to celebrate Joseph's life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Lee Coyle.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service.

The family will be at the home, 220 Walnut St., Union.
