Joyce Farr Rector Union, Sc

Mrs. Joyce Farr Rector, age 82 of 138 Ellis Street, Union, widow of James Edward Rector, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Mrs. Rector was born in Union, SC September 28, 1932, a daughter of the late James Farr and Bessie Broome Farr. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Conso Products. Mrs. Rector was a faithful member of Morningside Baptist Church, Union Senior Citizens and a longtime member of Woodman of the World. Mrs. Rector was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are a son, Eddie Rector and wife Karla of Union; a grandson, Jason Rector of Los Angles, CA; a sister-in-law, Deannie Rector of Union; a special brother-in-law, Billy Davis of Myrtle Beach; numerous nieces, nephews and special caregivers, Elizabeth "Lib" Gillian, Lorinda Robbins and Laura Moss. Mrs. Rector was predeceased by three sisters and their spouses: Louise Walters, Jeanette (Charles) Stoner and Faye (Edward) Mitchell; three brothers and their spouses: Jimmy Farr, Henry Farr and Leroy (Ruby) Farr. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Morningside Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Aulbrey Calvert. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Howard Burgess, Mike Farr, Tommy Farr, Larry Lawson, Terry Strugill, Gerald Lawson and Bill Stoner. Visitation will be held 1:45-2:45 PM Thursday in the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Epworth Children's Home, 2900 Millwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29205 or to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to Morningside Baptist Church Building Fund, 112 Bates Avenue, Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home of her son, Eddie and Karla Rector, 400 Seigler Rd., Union.
