Joyce (Garner) Scott

Mrs. Joyce Garner Scott, widow of Lewis L. Scott, formerly of Moore, SC, passed away Wednesday, December 18,2024 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Scott was born in Union, SC, April 19, 1934, a daughter of the late Oscar Walker Garner and Lillian Hall Garner. She was a graduate of Union High School and completed additional studies through Business College. Mrs. Scott was a self-employed bookkeeper and tax preparer. She was an active member of St. James United Methodist where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Scott was also very active in United Methodist Women Spartanburg District.

Mrs. Scott was the last surviving member of her siblings. Surviving her are her daughter, Nanette Hughes and her husband Keith and her son, Lesesne Scott and his wife Libby. Mrs. Scott's surviving grandchildren are Julie Hughes, Jennifer Herrell, Zachary Hughes, Walter Hughes and Anna Scott and  7 great grandchildren. Mrs. Scott was predeceased by brothers, Oscar W. Garner, Jr., Orin Garner, Hamblin Garner, Hubert Garner and Arthur Garner. She was predeceased by sisters, Catherine Morrison and Omega Wood.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 22,2024 at St. James United Methodist Church, 213 North Lanford Road, Spartanburg, SC, conducted by Rev. Andrew Wolfe. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at 4:00 PM in New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, 154 New Hope Church Road, Jonesville, SC.

Active pallbearers will be Zachary Hughes, Walter Hughes, Zach Harrell, Chris King, T.J. Hines, Mark Hines, John Morrison and Michael Morrison.
