Mrs. Julia Kerr "Bootsie" Garner, age 90, of Bob Little Rd., Jonesville, widow of Davis Wilbur Garner, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Union Medical Center.
Mrs. Garner was born in Union, June 10, 1930, a daughter of the late Charles Lofton Kerr and Florence Rowland Kerr. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and received a bachelors degree from Winthrop College and her masters degree from the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Garner retired from the Union County Counsel on Aging and had previously taught business classes at USC-Union. She loved her Lord, her family and her little dog Bo. She was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Thompson and husband Ronald of Jonesville and Pam Alexander of Whitmire; a sister, Rebecca Ann Foster of Aiken; a brother, Richard "Rick" Kerr of Jonesville; four grandchildren, Shane Kendrick and wife Melissa, Amanda Kendrick, Paul Alexander and Amber Alexander; five great-grandchildren, Dylan Kendrick, Kaylee Kendrick, Evelyn Rose Alexander, Samuel Shepard Alexander and Hannah Turner and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Garner was predeceased by two infant sons, a son-in-law, Jeffrey Alexander; a sister, Sibby Byrd and two brothers, Bill Kerr and Frank Kerr.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 12, 2021 at Mt. Joy Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Randy Smith.
The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the services.
