Julia I. Greer

d. November 6, 2016

November 6, 2016 Mrs. Julia Switzer Ivey Greer, age 100 widow of Charles Manley Greer of 521 Hart St., Union, SC went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her family at Heartland of Union. Mrs. Greer was born in Union, SC., April 3, 1916 a daughter of the late Ettawiese Jolly and Charles W. Ivey. She worked at the Union Dry Cleaners and for Conso Products. Julia is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann and husband, M. Brown Fant of Union. She has two grandsons, Cameron Greer Fant and wife Misty of Inman and Christopher Brown Fant of Inman. She has one great grandson, Connor Greer Fant and one great granddaughter, her namesake, Julia Grace Fant. She has a step great grandson, Travis Marshall. Also, she is survived by a sister, Martha Shaw and sister-in-law's, Margarette Greer and Linda Greer. She will be missed by two "guardian angels", Mary Jo Gregory and Vickie Trammell. To her daughter, Judy and to her son-in-law, Brown. No earthly words could be uttered to describe the depth of her love for you. Yes, Judy, her only child, was cherished and loved, spoiled always. Brown was to her like a son. To her grandsons, Cam and Chris, she held, cared for, sang to, and loved so deeply. She talked about them often, feeling very proud. Her relationship with them, being very unique, made life sweeter each day, blessings, beyond measure. Connor Greer Fant stole her heart at age 95. To hold and love him from his birth was riches immeasurable, from kisses and hugs to bumps on the head. Throwing balls, singing, playing old maid etc. Julia Grace Fant arrived 13 months ago with a special name and what was called, "the best thing to happen"! Jewelry to pink blankets were everywhere some being kept from Judy's birth to swaddle her Julia Grace in. Misty always kept Julia's nails beautiful and festive. They made nail time into story time. Misty found stories from 1916 on so interesting. Travis enjoyed Julia's cooking, pecan pie was his favorite. To her other family and friends she shared her heart, concerns, and love. She enjoyed time and conversations she had with you. She had fond memories of living on Hart Street, times spent in the company of her neighbors. She accepted her journey in life with her Heartland Family and friends. It was there she became a Centenarian and celebrated with the Party of a Century. The pink elephant tribute seemed so appropriate, Julia is a Trunk of Inspiration. Like no other person she was our enduring light of memory, laughter, and love. Brown, Judy, and family lovingly invite you to celebrate Julia's life with them at a visitation to be held at Holcombe Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and in a celebration of life service at 4:00 pm Tuesday, Nov. 8th, 2016 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Jim Ivey. She will be laid to rest in Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery prior to a life time celebration visitation in the Sardis Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 964 Sardis Rd., Union, SC or the Gideons International, P.O. Box 1224, Union, SC 29379.
