Katrina D. Hewitt

Katrina D. Hewitt, age 68, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Katrina was born in Union, August 23, 1955, a daughter of the late Frank Hewitt and Betty Dehart Hewitt Vaughan.  She was a 1975 graduate of Union High School and a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Katrina was also proud of the employment she accomplished during and after her education, including being a Page in the SC Senate thanks to the assistance of former Senator John D. Long who remained her friend until his death. She also worked at Another Way Children's Home, Union Services, Torrington, and Legal Aide in Spartanburg.

She is survived by her niece Megan Hill; great-nephew, Riley Garner, three aunts, Frances Hall (Maston), Beth Dehart and Joretta Hyatt, and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Tammy Hewitt, an infant brother, Frank Millus Hewitt, Jr., maternal grandparents, Ruby and L.D. Holcombe and Walter Dehart and paternal grandparents, Lillian and Walter Hewitt.

It was Katrina's wish that no services will be held. The family will be at the home of her niece, Megan Hill, 108 Cindy Lane, Union, where they will receive friends Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3 from 1:00 until 5:00 PM.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, Ellen Sagar Nursing Home, and Spartanburg Regional Hospice for their care of Katrina and the kindness shown to her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Katrina's memory to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605, or to animal shelter of one's choice.
