Mr. Kedrick M. Garner, age 91, husband of Mary Pauline Garner of Spartanburg, passed away January 23, 2024, at Union Post Acute Care/ProMedica of Union.

Mr. Garner was born in Union County, May 6, 1932, a son of the late Robert M. Garner and Mandy Lou Horne Garner. He was a graduate of Kelly Pinckney High School. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Joy Baptist Church having served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the Mt. Joy Masonic Lodge #203.

Mr. Garner proudly wore his military uniform as he served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He previously worked at Milliken Lockhart Plant and at Carlisle Finishing. He was the founder, owner and operator of Union Power Equipment and Marine for many years.

Mr. Garner was predeceased by his first wife of 63 years, Rebecca Little Garner; three sons: Robert "Bob" Garner, Richard "Red" Garner, and David A. Garner, and a brother, Donald S. Garner.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, William "Bill" Garner of Union; grandchildren, Kristopher Garner and wife Carly of Jonesville, Lindsey Kirby and husband Aaron of Spartanburg, and Kimberly Cottrell and husband Jake of Thomasville, NC; five great-grandchildren as well as five sisters and two brothers. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, a special daughter-in-law, Lynne Huff, and a special brother-in-law, Allan Little.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 26, 2024 at Mt. Joy Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Friday at the church prior to the services. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Dickie Fowler, Shawn Haney, John Garner, Todd Little, Timothy Wilburn and Johnny Moore.

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation to the Union Post Acute Assisted Living Team and the Assisted Living Residents for the friendship, love and personal care given to Mr. Garner during his stay at the center. Also a special Thank You to the staff and nurses of Crescent Hospice for the care given during his illness.

Memorial may be made to Mt. Joy Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 657 Pea Ridge Hwy., Jonesville, SC 29353.

The family will be at their respective homes.
