July 14, 2014 Kelly McKeown Siltzer, 45, of Hendersonville, NC died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Duke Medical Pavilion in Durham following a three-year battle with leukemia. Born in Union, SC, Kelly graduated from Union High School in 1986 and completed the culinary arts program at South Seattle Community College in 1994. She most recently worked as a dental assistant at Hodges and Hodges Comprehensive Dentistry in Asheville. A member of Mills River United Methodist Church, she was also a volunteer with the church's Life Enrichment Center for senior adults. She is survived by her husband, Jay, and son, Malachi, of Hendersonville; her parents, Walter O. and Mary McKeown; brother, Niel McKeown and his wife, Wendy; sister, Elizabeth and her husband, Victor, all of Union; and two nephews and two nieces. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holcombe Funeral Home in Union, SC. An additional visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mills River United Methodist Church. A celebration of life will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Mills River United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ed Hillman, Ashley Crowder Stanley, Paige Ann Miller and Fr. Namdev Dagam officiating. Guests are encouraged to wear bright colors. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Immaculata Catholic School, 711 Buncombe Street, Hendersonville, NC 28791. Joe Thomas Stepp, Sr. Jonesville, SC Mr. Joe Thomas Stepp, Sr., age 79, husband of Roberta Horne Stepp of 127 C St., Jonesville, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his home. Mr. Stepp was born in Union Co., November 25, 1934, a son of the late Jeter and Mitti Mosley Stepp. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired as an insurance agent. Mr. Stepp was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, R.A. Leader and led the Ellen Sagar Devotion. Mr. Stepp was retired from the S.C. National Guard having served for 25 years. Surviving in addition to his wife of 59 years are a daughter, Debra Stepp Switzer of Pauline; a son, Joe T. Stepp, Jr. and wife Pamela of Jonesville; a sister, Grace Lane of Union; a brother, Vernon Stepp of Lockhart; four grandchildren Amanda K. Rapson of Sanford, NC, Eric F. Stepp and fiancée Magan Ballew of Jonesville, Tyler Switzer of Pauline and Cheyenne Stepp of Jonesville; and four great-grandchildren, Sydney Rapson and Xavier Rapson of Sanford, NC, Savedge Wright and Zaydah Wright of Jonesville. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Gilead Baptist Church cemetery conducted by Rev. Ralph Brown. Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the Holcombe's Jonesville Chapel. Memorials may be made to Gentiva Home Health, 1261 S. Duncan ByPass, Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 127 C St., Jonesville.
