December 14, 2018 Kerri Leigh Garland, age 47, formerly of New York, passed away, Thursday, December 13, 2018. Miss Garland was born in Spartanburg, December 21, 1970, a daughter of Paula Jones Garland of Jonesville and the late Ronald L. Garland. She was a graduate of Union High School and studied at Fordham University. Kerri moved to New York to pursue modeling and was signed to a top modeling agency, Welhemina. Many years later after prevailing over a year long fight with Hodgkin's lymphoma, she pursued a successful career in marketing with Estee Lauder. New York quickly became her chosen home. Throughout, Kerri made lifelong friends; always and still impressed with her razor-sharp wit tempered with unapologetic kindness and always a positive spirit. Surviving in addition to her mother, are a sisters, Rhonda Morales and husband Genaro of Clinton and a brother Ronald D. Garland and wife Della of Whitmire and sister, Sophy Mitchell of Jonesville. Kerri was also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by her nephew, Rev. Kendall Gilliam. The family will receive friends immediately after the services. The family will be at their respective homes.
