Larry K. O'Shields

Mr. Larry Kingsley O'Shields, age 73, husband of Jerry Bradburn O'Shields of 650 Old Pump Station Rd., Union went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.

Mr. O'Shields was born in Union, February 10, 1949, a son of the late Leonard Frank O'Shields Sr. and Lillie Mae Moore O'Shields. He was a graduate of Union High School, Cecil's Business College and received two degrees from Spartanburg Technical College. He was a retired teacher with Spartanburg Community College where he had taught Industrial Electronic for 28 years. He also was the owner of LKO Electronics and had worked with Hames Music on organs and sound systems. Mr. O'Shields was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Vietnam War.  He was a member of Philippi Baptist Church where he was a member of the Praise Band and taught the 4 year-old Cubbies in the Awana Program.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Allison Waters and husband Jamey; a son, Rev. Brad Goodale and wife Stephanie; and a sister Linda O. Carter and husband Floyd all of Union. He is survived by grandchildren Jesse Fleming, John Andrew Goodale and wife Jenny, Erica Waters Comtois and husband Leland, Tony Waters and wife Jada, Seth Goodale and wife Ashton, and Rebekah Goodale; a great granddaughter due in May and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank O'Shields.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Scott, Rev. Bill Randall and Rev. Brad Goodall. Burial with Military Honors will be at Union Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 3:00PM Sunday at the church prior to the services.

Active pallbearers will be John Andrew Goodale, Seth Goodale, Jesse Fleming, Tony Waters, Leland Comtois and Jamey Waters.

The following are asked to serve as the honorary escort, Gerald Wilson, Paul Sanders, Gene Brock, Myron Hames, Conrad Allen, Doug Hughes, Billy Ledford, Randy Ledford and Ronnie Carter. Members of the Todd Bible Sunday School class are asked to sit in a group.
