April 15, 2016 Laura Vanderford Farr, age 89, widow of Ned D. Farr and formerly of 100 Churchill St., Union, passed away on April 13, 2016, at Lakeland Regional Health in Florida. Mrs. Farr was born in Union County on March 29, 1927, daughter of the late Guy W. and Mary Ruth Vanderford. She was a graduate of Union High School and attended King's Business College in Charlotte, North Carolina. She retired from Milliken & Company, Monarch Plant, as Executive Secretary after 47 years of service. She also retired as Executive Director of the Union County Literacy Council after three years. She was a lifelong member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church, serving in many areas on the Administrative Board and was chairperson of several committees. For many years, she was Wesley Chapel's youth leader and taught Sunday School. A class was named in her honor in 2003. In May 2004, a day was set aside to honor her and her husband, Ned. She was predeceased by her husband. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Pam Farr of Lakeland, Florida; granddaughter Lauren F. Daggett and husband Brett, their sons Aiden and Wiley; grandson Matthew Farr and fiance Nicole Bonelli, all of Lakeland, Florida; and a sister, Dolly V. Mahaffey of Spartanburg. Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, April 17, at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Donna Eidson, followed by visitation in the fellowship building with burial in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Farr, Brett Daggett, Aiden Daggett, Richard Kloskey, Mark Kloskey, Bowman Still, and Lawson Still.
