Lawrence Price, Union, Sc Sr.

Mr. Lawrence Price, Sr, age 79, husband of Shirley Cargill Price of 203 Cottage Avenue, Union, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at his home. Mr. Price was born in Union, SC May 28, 1935, a son of the late Frank Price and Lillie Mae Waldrop Price. He was a graduate of Union High School and Cecil's Business College. Mr. Price retired from the S.C. Department of Corrections in Cross Anchor. He was a Veteran of the US Army having served from 1958 to 1960, serving thirteen months in Germany. Mr. Price was a member of Crestview Baptist Church where he was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. For twenty-nine years, Mr. Price coached little league baseball and had also coached flag football, soccer and basketball. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Angela Price Knighten and husband Michael; three sons: Larry Price Jr and wife Jennifer, Keith Price and wife Kim and Shawn Garner; four sisters: Margie Cope, Marie Atkinson, Minnie McGraw and Lillie Garner all of Union; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Price was predeceased by a son, Steven Lynn Price, a daughter-in-law, Jackie Groves Price, son-in-law Keith Kerr, two sisters, Betty Mallett and Frances Henderson and three brothers, Earl Price, Arthur Price and George Price. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Crestview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Josh Freeman, Rev. Jerry Lawson and Rev. Jimmy Skinner. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Michael Knighten, Ricey Kerr, Robert Williams, Harley Johns, Gerald Alman and Robbie Jett. Members of Mr. Price's former ball teams with whom he coached, members of the Men's Sunday School Class, the Dixie League Association and the Gamecock Club are asked to serve as the Honorary Escort. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church, 1100 Furman Fendley Hwy, Union, SC 29379. The family is at the home of his daughter, Angela and Michael Knighten, 245 Deepwater Rd., Union.
