Lena Dockery Lancaster

July 30, 2018 Mrs. Lena Dockery Lancaster, age 85, of 225 S. Boyce St., Union, passed away Monday July 30, 2018 at the one year anniversary of the passing of her husband Melvin "Buck" Lancaster. Mrs. Lancaster was born in Union, July 25, 1933, a daughter of the late Houston and Ruth Knox Dockery. She was retired from Conso Products and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Mrs. Lancaster was an avid racecar driver at the Beltline Speedway. Surviving are two sons, Ellis Lancaster and wife Carolyn of Union, and Ricky Lancaster and wife Marcia of North Carolina; one daughter, Debra Lancaster Falls of the home; two sisters, Sara Dockery Pearson and Emma Dockery McCoy both of Union; one sister-in-law, Virginia Turner Dockery of Union; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lancaster was predeceased by a sister, Margarite Dockery Walton and a brother, Houston "Pete" Dockery. The family wishes to express a special "Thank You" to the staff and nurses of Hospice Care of SC and Charlene Gibson for their care of Mrs. Lancaster during her illness. Graveside services will be held at Rosemont Cemetery, 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 1, 2018, which would have been Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster's 65th wedding anniversary. Services will be conducted by Rev. Ross Wilson and her son Rev. Ricky Lancaster. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 763 Neal Shoals Rd., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 225 S. Boyce St., Union.
