Leroy J. Chaney, Jr.

Mr. Leroy Johnson Chaney, Jr., age 81, husband of Barbara Miller Chaney of 499 Hammett Grove Rd., Spartanburg, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mr. Chaney was born in Union, April 3, 1942, a son of the late Leroy J. Chaney, Sr. and Clarise Estes Chaney. He was a retired self-employed Master Carpenter and had previously worked with Smith Lumber Co. in Union. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served as a paratrooper. Mr. Chaney was a member of Thompson Chapel Baptist Church in Cowpens. He was an avid bowler and loved karaoke and his cat, Anna.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 27 years, Barbara are three daughters, Denise Chaney and husband Ralph, and Tammy Teeter all of Union, and Tina Owens and husband Richard of Spartanburg; two sons, Eric Chaney and wife Krissi of Union and Rickey Lamb and wife Denise of Greenville; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one brother and seven sisters.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 PM Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Co. Humane Society, 150 Dexter Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29303.

The family will be at the home, 499 Hammet Grove Rd., Spartanburg.
