Leroy Shropshire

June 6, 2015 Union, SC Mr. Leroy Shropshire, age 84, husband of Vera Scruggs Shropshire of 829 Duncan ByPass, Union, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 6, 2015 at his home. Mr. Shropshire was born in Rutherford, NC, a son of the late John Shropshire and Unis Shropshire. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Cecil Business College. Mr. Shropshire retired from Spartanburg Herald Journal after forty-four years of service. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, was a Mason of Masonic Lodge #75 for fifty years and was a Shriner. Mr. Shropshire was a Veteran of the US Air Force having served in the Korean War. Surviving in addition to his wife are two grandsons: Kevin Shropshire and wife Kelly and Lee Shropshire and wife Lacy and three great-grandchildren: Riley Shropshire, Jasper Shropshire and Sidney Shropshire all of Union. Mr. Shoropshire was predeceased by a son, Michael Kelly Shropshire and a great-granddaughter, Mia Faith Shropshire. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, June 8, 2015 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Chapman. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Active pallbearers will be Lee Shropshire, Kevin Shropshire, James Hearn, Ronnie Wade, Jantzen Childers, Tommy Anthony and Don Shetley. The nurses and staff of Blue Ridge Hospice are asked to sit in a group. Visitation will be held at the home, 829 Duncan ByPass, Union following the committal service.
