May 17, 2017 Mr. Lewis Lee Clayton, age 84, husband of Annie Belue Clayton of 4242 Jonesville-Lockhart Hwy., Union, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at his home. Mr. Clayton was born in Greer, September 23, 1932, a son of the late Lester Lee Clayton and Helen Ford Clayton Gregory. He retired after 21 years with the US Navy having served during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Afterwards, Mr. Clayton retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing. He was a member of the American Legion Post 22 and was also a Mason and a Shriner. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Patti Hall of Spartanburg, Cathy Dillard of Pacolet and Linda Clayton of Union; a sister, Pauline Hefner of Rock Hill; two brothers, Sam Clayton of Union and Bobby Clayton of Jonesville; and seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Clayton was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Lynn Walker and Erlene Clayton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday May 18, 2017 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Steve Lemons. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Union Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral chapel prior to the services.
