Lewis M. Grady Union, Sc

Mr. Lewis Marvin Grady, age 89, of 324 Terry Dr., Union, widower of Dorothy Steele Grady, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Heartland of Union. Mr. Grady was born in the Tuckertown community of Union Co., June 13, 1925, a son of the late Claude Pinckney Grady and Corrine McGowan Grady. He was retired from Milliken Co., Monarch Plant and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Grady was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII. He loved spending time outdoors and visiting with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving are a daughter, Ponnee Lovelace and husband Mike of Union; two sons, Ray Grady of Columbus, TX and Jerry Grady of Union; two sisters, Willie Mae Patterson of Clinton and Betty Roberts and husband Billy of Union; fifteen grandchildren, Julie Minnick, Niki Stanley, Devin Grady, Aaron Grady, Garrett Grady, Jennifer Grady, Trey Harris, Michael Harris, Mark Harris, Michelle Austin, Louie Grady, Angela Reynolds, Tracy Duncan, Crystal Belue and Brandy Greene; twenty-eight great-grandcildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Grady was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Grady Harris, a son, Eddie Grady, two sisters, Minnie Lee Maye and Elizabeth Moss, and a brother Claude William Grady. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Covenant Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Wayne Cooke and Rev. Jack Bratton, Sr. Burial with Military Honors will be at Rosemont Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mark Harris, Michael Harris, Trey Harris, Louie Grady, Aaron Grady, Shannon Austin, and Jerry Dunn. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Covenant Baptist Church, Relay for Life, P.O. Box 10, Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 324 Terry Dr., Union.
