Lewis E. Horne

March 19, 2017 Mr. Lewis Edward Horne, age 87, husband of 67 years to Mamie Lou Roark Horne of 500 Toney Rd., Union, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Union Medical Center. Mr. Horne was born in Union Co., February 6, 1930, a son of the late Frank "Hoss" Horne and Nannie Vanderford Horne. He was retired from Torrington Co., Tyger River Plant and was a member of Glory Baptist Church. Mr. Horne loved fishing, cutting grass, his church and his family. Mr. Horne was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Barbara McCall Crayne and husband Phil; a son, Bobby Horne and wife Betty all of Union; three grandchildren, Kacie Petrie and husband Shane, Megan McCall and Jessica Levister and one great-grandchild, Carson Petrie. Mr. Horne was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy Horne Little, six sisters, and six brothers. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Glory Baptist Church, 1100 Riley Rd., Union, SC 29379, conducted by Pastor Lee Franklin and Pastor Brad Goodale. Burial will be at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Mike Petrie, Josh Rochester, Chris Cody, LaMont Green, Freddie Crawford, and Steve Roark. The following are asked to form the honorary escort, Russell Roark, Albert Roark, Russell Roark, Jr., Charles Craig, Perry "Brother" Rogers, Howard Wells, and Robert Fuller. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Glory Baptist Church, P.O. Box 178, Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home of his granddaughter, Kacie and Shane Petrie, 408 Toney Rd., Union.
